How do you create ‘warmth’ in a kitchen? It’s a term we hear regularly when discussing interior schemes and the feeling a client or designer wants to create within a space. Bespoke joinery can play a huge part. Natural timbers, like those we’ve used in our Studio Display, instantly bring texture, character and warmth to a room. But it’s everything you pair with them that brings the scheme together. Aged brass, worktops with just the right amount of contrast, tactile materials and, arguably most importantly, considered lighting. It’s also why collaboration is such an important part of what we do. Creating a space that feels warm and inviting isn’t about one material or one element; it’s about how the joinery, interiors, lighting and architecture all work together. That means we get to see the entire transformation, from the first sketches to the final styling. Progress is rarely dramatic day to day. This freestanding dresser in our studio is a great example, combining solid oak with oak veneer to achieve the perfect balance of beauty and practicality. Oak veneer is more stable, lighter and less prone to movement over time, reducing strain on drawers and hinges, while solid oak adds the detail and character that only natural timber can provide.
