In a recent feature by The Kitchen Think, Cor Domi’s Arc Apartment project was highlighted as an example of how bespoke design can transform a challenging architectural space into a highly functional kitchen tailored to modern living.
The apartment’s dramatic double-height ceilings presented both an opportunity and a challenge. Rather than treating the additional height as unused space, Cor Domi designed a full-height cabinetry scheme that maximises storage while becoming a defining architectural feature within the room.
At the heart of the design sits a generous island created specifically to encourage social interaction. By keeping the surface free from sinks and hobs, the island functions as a welcoming gathering space for cooking, dining and entertaining, while maintaining clean lines and uninterrupted views throughout the apartment.
Storage was carefully integrated throughout the design. Bespoke cabinetry provides dedicated space for everyday essentials while allowing artwork, books and personal objects to be displayed in a considered and curated way. This balance between practical storage and visual openness helps the kitchen feel both functional and highly personal.
Material selection also played an important role. Rich dark oak veneer cabinetry introduces warmth and depth, while Taj Mahal-inspired porcelain surfaces provide durability and visual contrast. Together, these materials create a timeless palette that complements the apartment’s contemporary architecture. The Arc Apartment project demonstrates how thoughtful planning and bespoke craftsmanship can create kitchens that are not only visually striking but also perfectly suited to the way their owners live every day.
