The Age of Elegance: A Regency Villa Reimagined for Modern Living

Blending period architecture with contemporary family living requires a delicate balance between preserving heritage and introducing modern functionality. This philosophy guided the transformation of Abbey Road, a late-Georgian Regency villa reimagined by Project London and Cor Domi.

Recently featured in 25 Beautiful Homes, the project celebrates the property’s historic character while introducing a refined, contemporary interior tailored to the lifestyle of its owners.

The clients were passionate travellers who had lived across Europe, America and the Middle East. Their brief centred on creating a home that felt sophisticated, welcoming and deeply personal, incorporating treasured collections, artwork and meaningful pieces gathered throughout their travels.

At the heart of the home sits a bespoke kitchen designed by Cor Domi. Soft blue cabinetry is paired with a deeper blue island and elegant quartzite worktops, creating a light and inviting space designed for both everyday family life and entertaining. Generous storage was carefully integrated throughout the scheme to ensure the kitchen remained practical without compromising its visual appeal.

Throughout the property, original architectural features have been celebrated and enhanced. Ornate cornicing, high ceilings and grand proportions provide a backdrop for a layered palette of blues, plums, forest greens and warm neutrals, creating a sense of continuity between rooms.

The dining room introduces sculptural furniture and statement lighting, while bespoke cabinetry and tailored storage solutions appear throughout the home. The principal dressing room features floor-to-ceiling cabinetry designed to maximise organisation while maintaining a calm, elegant aesthetic.

In the bathrooms, luxurious materials and thoughtful detailing continue the narrative. Veined marble flooring, freestanding baths and bespoke vanity units create spaces that feel both timeless and contemporary.

The completed project demonstrates how architecture, interiors and bespoke joinery can work together to create a home that feels rooted in its history while perfectly suited to modern life.
