Working alongside interior designer Leo Morvillo of Behind The Door, the project centred around a rear extension that doubled the size of the existing kitchen and transformed it into a light-filled family hub. Large glazed doors and a full-length rooflight were introduced to maximise natural light and strengthen the connection between the home and outdoor space.
Drawing inspiration from relaxed coastal interiors and New England architecture, the design combines classic detailing with contemporary finishes. Painted wall panelling and a soft, natural palette create a calm atmosphere, while carefully selected materials add warmth and texture throughout the room.
At the heart of the project is a bespoke kitchen designed and manufactured by Cor Domi. The main cabinetry features refined framed doors that offer a contemporary interpretation of traditional Shaker design. Finished in Farrow & Ball Off-Black and paired with textured brass hardware, the cabinetry introduces depth and sophistication while remaining timeless.
In contrast, the central island has been crafted in natural oak, bringing warmth and character to the space. A metal-framed breakfast bar introduces a subtle industrial element while creating a practical gathering place for family life. Every aspect of the design was carefully considered to balance functionality, durability and aesthetics.
Materiality plays a defining role throughout the project. Handcrafted polished concrete worktops and flooring create a tactile, architectural quality, while handmade Moroccan zellige tiles add depth and variation. Together, these materials create a layered interior that feels contemporary, calm and effortlessly liveable.
The result is a kitchen that perfectly reflects Cor Domi’s approach to bespoke design: combining craftsmanship, intelligent space planning and premium materials to create spaces that are both highly functional and built to stand the test of time.
